Carlton’s Best 22, 2020: Trev’s Version

By January 11, 2020No Comments

Trevor’s 22!

So fun and hard doing a round 1 – Starting 22. My team is based on Charlie not being ruled out yet for the first game.

This is the strongest Carlton list I can remember (I can’t remember our last premiership I was too drunk) Plowman is interesting to me. Although he is rated highly in the club and finished high in the B&F I just don’t think he is a better player than those I’ve got in the team. Marchbank fully fit offers so much more I believe. On the strength of Simmo’s last half of the season, he starts for me.

Setterfield and SPS on Wings can do some real damage. Watch out for Tom Williamson who will have his eye on Setterields wing spot if he can overcome his back issue.

Dow and O’Brien will compete for spots, O’Brien has flourished under Teague with freedom to run and carry.
I like the versatility of Gibbons as another mid option, would love to see Ed as a stand alone mid as well. Casboult..well he was never going to be out of my team. Pretty sure he will be all Australian , Coleman medallist and tie with Crippa for the Brownlow.

Believe it or not I’m not sold on Martin. No doubt at his best he is in our 22. He HAS to be at his best now. Thinking of him and Eddie in our forward line under our big guys, gives pleasant feelings to my groin region.

Fisher, Stocker and Cunningham will all no doubt get opportunities to play. No hurry on Stocker.

I’m not a huge wrap for Newnes, don’t rate him higher than what we have right now, but I really hope he does well.
Kennedy is another one that will find it hard but not impossible to play up in the seniors.

Go Blues!
