Carlton Live Supercoach 2020 JR – draft 1 of 384

By January 23, 2020No Comments

AFL Supercoach 2020 went live to the public earlier this week, so I have spent my Thursday night putting together a first (of what will be many) draft of my Supercoach team.

Backline:

Yes Tom Williamson made the cut. He looks awesome on the track and if he stays fit, is basically rookie price. Preseason games will dictate whether or not he stays in.

Sam Docherty. A very cheap premium. If fit, will play all games and will score well.

Jake Lloyd – just about a must have given the lack of top line back talent. I’ve also added in Zac Williams again as he will see more and more midfield time. I have him in favour of Houli and Hurn, whom I cant see besting or even replicating their 2019 numbers. Solid trade ups later on.

Tom Doedee – is a class act, well underpriced but another injury risk. Stephen Hill is rookie priced but risky, Trent Rivers and Will Gould are placeholders until pre-season games.

Midfield:

Patrick Cripps – basically a gimme. Nat Fyfe – the same. Then it gets really interesting. Tom Mitchell is a stat getting machine and I’m willing to overlook his injury last season. If he is fit, round 2 will be the last time that he will be at this price. Good luck affording him later.

Will Setterfield – I think all Carlton Live followers would be aware of my thoughts about his upside.

Matt Rowell and Noah Anderson will play a heap of game time at the Gold Coast this year. Gold Coast are in the same position that we were in 3+ years ago. They have to play the kids and get game time into them quickly.

Marlon Pickett is speculative. Sam Philp has impressed me enough to put him in my Round 1 team.

Serong and Flanders impressed me at an underage level. Bianco is a bit of a wild card and it pains me to put a Collingwood player in.

Rucks:

6,6,6 has meant that ruckmen have to become part midfielders. Rucks are also expected to be link up players, marking around the ground. Brodie Grundy and Max Gawn are almost locks for your team. If not now, you will need them for finals. So why not have them now?

TDK has to start getting senior games. I have him as temporary third ruck. Very likely that I’ll swap Darcy Cameron into that role if he has a good pre-season and I find another forward option.

Forwards:

Lachie Whitfield is the only lock. I had to put in Jack Martin – as Carlton Live now sponsor him. Plus I think looking at his pre-season, he will play more mid time than not. He is too good a user of the football.

Dusty Martin slides in, but I am wary. An amazing footballer, but doesnt get the 100 scores consistently enough.

The rest of the “premium” forwards have all burned me at one stage or another. So I refuse to pick any of them.

Darcy Fogarty is one I’ve liked for a long time. He is ready for much more responsibility, game time and possession. Aiden Bonar will find a lot more time at North. Izak Rankine and Ben Cavarra are another 2 that I have liked since get go. Izak unlucky last year. Darcy Cameron is currently in my forward line

Still plenty of money in the kitty and plenty of time to change every single player.

Who would you change in my side?

Regards
